Where did it all begin?
Initially CrossFit wasn’t this huge fitness community when I started. It was the grungy garage-type gym with some insanely fit and good-looking instructors without all the Reebok paraphernalia. And to be honest, I hated it. My body hurt every time for days after I completed a wod- I rarely took the opportunity to go back unless Starbucks was involved postworkout.
I considered myself to be pretty fit, I’d played every sport as a kid and loved the outdoors, but CrossFit highlighted your weaknesses a little too often in the beginning. But when I moved to Melbourne I met so many individuals who loved and spoke so highly of CrossFit that I thought I’d give it another chance. I was put on a team for a competition in Mildura in 2012, after that I was hooked.
Why CrossFit?
CrossFit humbled me. I’d always been pretty good at everything I tried, however CrossFit made me work hard to achieve my goals and be the better person I am today.
Favourite thing about CrossFit?
Can I say the hot guys? Only half kidding. Actually CrossFit gave me back that team spirit. I love competing with a team or a partner. I work a lot harder if I know I can’t let down my teammates. And the level of camaraderie and sportsmanship is highly recognised in the sport of CrossFit.
